Stakes are measured in points. At the start of the season, the standard bet is 1pt. The amount of money this equates to could be anything; it depends on the person. One point just represents whatever your normal sized bet is. For a young student, 1pt could equal €1. For a rich person, 1pt could equal €10,000.
Depending on the confidence I have in the value of a bet, I can increase my bet size. I have three confidence levels:
- Standard bet = 1 point
- Double bet = 2 points
- Max bet = 3 points
I nearly always go with a standard bet. There will usually be a handful of double bets during the season but max bets are rare.
Increasing the Stakes
Any time I am in profit during the season, the bet sizes will increase slightly to make use of that profit. I will still list bets as 1pt, 2pts or 3pts but the actual stake will change as follows:
The standard bet will become 1pt plus 10% of the profit.
The double bet will become 2pts plus 20% of the profit.
The max bet will become 3pts plus 30% of the profit.
